PCs 4 All

PCs4All works in partnership with PlanetGeek.ca to connect people with technology in an environmentally conscious way.
Our work with PlanetGeek aims to:
- provide refurbished computer equipment to people who can make use of it, such as those with limited means,
- divert discarded electronics from the waste-stream, and
- overcome barriers that prevent universal access to on-line resources, through education and deployment of networked computers to benefit the community.
We accomplish most of what we do with volunteers. We work with volunteers to assess the donated equipment and test components, which are reused to build and refurbish workable computers, or recycled through the Ontario E-Waste Stewardship program (www.dowhatyoucan.ca), to protect the environment and reduce material going to landfill.
Any computer equipment, working or not, can be donated; we repair and reuse everything we can. Non-functioning computers and scrap are recycled responsibly.
We also provide opportunities for learning, through classroom-style training as well as hands-on experience, and recipients are encouraged to participate in the testing and repair of donated computers. This affords them the opportunity to learn such skills as project management, working together as a team, and basic computer hardware and software familiarity.
